CLAY MORTENSEN

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Clay Mortensen is a Nashville native holding a BFA in Film from Lipscomb University. Clay has worked nearly a decade in the film and communications industry, specializing in production, operations, and story development. Clay played an integral role in the launch of the first animated children’s program incentivized by the state of Tennessee. He worked to build the production and development models now being used by the company, as well as assisted in writing the scripts for the programming. Recently, his passion for Tennessee’s public married with his skills in communication lent him to join in leading city-wide efforts during the pandemic. 

Clay believes that there is a story to be found in everything. He is incredibly excited to put this mindset to work in joining with Leadership Tennessee to foster a community of leaders across the state.  His creative background will lend him well in telling the stories of Tennessee’s amazing leaders - past, present, and future.

If you happened to walk into Clay’s house, you’d learn that the majority of the furniture was built by Clay himself. He believes that everyone needs a hobby where they can work with their hands, and wood-working is Clay’s medium of choice. Along with building furniture, Clay loves to paint, draw, and mold tiki mugs. Clay and his wife, Olivia, married in May of 2022 and are happily enjoying the early years of marriage.
