In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic causing event and session postponements, Leadership Tennessee is seeking ways to continue our mission of fostering collaborative, non-partisan dialogue on issues of state importance, connecting a network of diverse leaders and engaged citizens. 

Virtual Town Hall

Leadership Tennessee Virtual Town Halls are a new way for our membership to continue connecting ideas and solutions that bring leaders together to build a stronger Tennessee. Similar to the in-person conversations we host during program sessions and community engagement events, we will focus on connecting members who represent a variety of professional sectors, demographics, and regions across the state.


Leadership in Crisis: Healthcare

The healthcare industry has been one of the hardest hit sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Working long hours and making tough decisions, all while caring for the wellbeing of their patients and communities, this panel of healthcare leaders provides meaningful insight into their industry during the April 30 Leadership in Crisis series conversation.

Join moderator and University of Tennessee College of Nursing Dean, Vickie Niederhauser (Class VI), University of Tennessee Medical Center Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Keith Gray (Class V), Vanderbilt University Medical Center Executive Medical Director, Dr. Alex Jahangir (Class V), and East Tennessee State University College of Public Health Dean, Dr. Randy Wykoff (Class VII), as they provide a behind-the-scenes take on leadership as healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 crisis.

Many non-profits operate on a shoestring budget during typical times. Hear from a number of Tennessee non-profit leaders as they discuss the ways their organizations have been impacted during crisis and how they are adapting.

Conversation is moderated by, Pat Shea (Class IV), President & CEO, Givful. Panelists include: Jerry Askew (Class VII), President, Alliance for Better Non-profits, Claudia Caballero (Class VII), President & CEO, Centro Hispano de East Tennessee, Jaynee Day (Class II), Interim CEO, Feeding Westchester, and Teresa Sloyan (Class II), President, Hyde Family Foundation.

Leadership in Crisis: Smaller Communities

Each community responds differently during a time of crisis. This week's edition of Leadership Tennessee's Virtual Town Hall Series, Leadership In Crisis, focuses on the unique triumphs and challenges facing some of Tennessee's smaller communities.

Join moderator Jake Bynum (Class VI), Weakley County Mayor, in an engaging conversation with Kevin Christopher (Class VII), Principal of Ridgeline Venture Law and Putnum County Commissioner, Lindsay Frilling (Class VII), CEO of Obion County Joint Economic Development Corporation, Chaz Molder (Class VII), Columbia, TN City Mayor, and C. Seth Sumner (Class VII), Athens TN City Manager, as they share their unique perspective on leadership in times of crisis specifically in smaller communities.

Business and industries have been hit hard by the necessity of social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis. Businesses small and large have adapted their business models in varying ways; watch to see some of the lessons learned along the way. Discussion is moderated by Kyle Spurgeon (Class IV), CEO of the Jackson Chamber, panelists include: Bryson Leach (LT NEXT Class II), Co-owner of Needle and Grain and entrepreneur, Janet Miller (Class V), CEO & Market Leader, Colliers International, Marcus Shaw (Class VII), CEO, The Company Lab.

Leadership in Crisis: Higher Education

Higher Education institutions took swift and decisive actions as COVID-19 began in the United States. Hear from a few Higher Ed. professionals, on the lessons they have learned along the way. Discussion is moderated by Mike Krause (Class V), Executive Director, THEC, panelists include: Rebecca Ashford (Class VII), President, Chattanooga State Community College, Randy Boyd (Class I), President, University of Tennessee, Logan Hampton (Class VI), President, Lane College.
